BIKE FIT – Some brief information on getting your bicycle positioning correct
It is important for injury prevention, comfort and enjoyment that you have your bike set up correctly, most importantly check your seat height is at the right height for you.

If you are considering buying a new or second hand bike or just want to set your existing bike up better, it can be worth being measured accurately. However, below are some good starting points. If making changes, only move seta 0.5 cm at a time as you may need to do it in stages as you become accustomed to new position.

Seat height
1. Measure inseam X 1.09
This distance should equal distance from centre of pedal axis to top of seat
2. Measure lower limb (from greater trochanter – bump on side of hip) to ground (including shoes) X 0.98

3. This distance should equal distance from centre of pedal axis to top of seat

Fore / Aft Position
Seat on bike with feet at the 3 O’clock position. Drop a straight line from the centre of the knee. This should drop through the centre of the ball of you foot on the
pedal.
